Competitions and prizes

Norman Heaps Prize
Awarded for the best oral presentation by a young (under 35 yrs) non-established researcher.

Cath Allen Prize
To be awarded for the best poster presented at the Conference.

The President's Photographic Competition
Awarded for the best photograph submitted at the conference, and this year's theme is 'Time and Tide'.

Challenger Medal
This is awarded bienially to a distinguished UK marine scientist or other person who has made a single major contribution, or a sustained contribution, to the development of marine science, or whose innovation has opened up new perspectives. The recipient need not be a member of the Challenger Society.

Nominations and Application
Nominations and Applications for the Norman Heaps Prize, the Cath Allen Prize, the Photographic Competition and the President's Photographic Competition will be considered by a sub-group of the Council of the Challenger Society. They should be submitted to the President of the Challenger Society, Mr. Richard Burt, Chelsea Instruments Ltd., 55 Central Avenue, West Molesey, Surrey, KT8 2QZ.
