Current projects
Global Sea Level Observing System.   (GLOSS) of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) (Former Chairman).

Satellite altimeter missions.   Principal Investigator for NASA/CNES and ESA missions.

Space gravity missions.   Member of the Science Working Teams for the GOCE space gravity mission.

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.   Lead and Contributing Author for the sea level component of the IPCC Assessment Reports.

UK National Tidal and Sea Level Facility   Founding Chairman.

Research interests
Studies of sea level variations from time scales of hours (e.g. tides) through to long term changes as a result of climate change.

Sea level measurement technology (e.g. state-of-the-art tide gauges).

Liverpool maritime history.

Interests in aspects of fundamental physics (undertaken vicariously).

Member of the Remote Sensing Society, Challenger Society and American Geophysical Union. Fellow of the International Association of Geodesy.
